There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- Last week the owners of Mouton cocktail bar in the Short North said they’ll be closing in the coming weeks, saying their lease was not renewed. The landlord is offering the space and the adjoining storefront for development. Mouton first opened in 2010; an exact closing date will be announced soon.
- The big news out of the North Market Downtown is that Littleton’s Market, which opened last December in Upper Arlington, will take over the former Omega Artisan Baking stall on the southwest corner. Dubbed Littleton’s Market Bakery, it will feature a retail bakery and cafe as well as production space, and will be run by pastry chef Aaron Clouse (check out his work from his time at Parable Coffee). It’s set to open sometime this summer.
- In other market news, the forthcoming market hall coming to the Grandview Crossing development got a few updates this week. We learned it will be called the Little Grand Market, and will include 12 stalls, a bar called the Little Grand Bar, and a new location of Thrive Companies’ (which is developing the project) coffee shop/cocktail bar concept Bada Bean Bada Booze. It’s all slated to open this summer.
- This Saturday, April 27, a new bakery and brunch spot called Maison Skalli is soft opening at 2746 Festival Lane in Dublin.
- In case you missed it this week, North Country Charcuterie announced that it has a new name, Foris Extraordinary Meats. The owners said the name change came about as they celebrate 10 years in business, continue growing, and add more products beyond charcuterie.
- On the heels of Three Bites Bakery‘s announcement that it’s moving downtown, Yawning Bear Bread Co. shared that it will take over Three Bite’s current space at 999 Mt. Vernon Ave. in King-Lincoln.
- Jalisco Mexican Ice Cream opened recently at 5300 Westpointe Plaza Dr. in Hilliard.
- Blue Agave Mexican restaurant recently opened a new location at 96 Granville St. in Gahanna.
- It seems official now that the Buca di Beppo at 60 E. Wilson Bridge Rd. in Worthington will close, as its property was sold to Chick-Fil-A.
- Columbus Food Adventures announced the addition of a new tour: an Italian Village pizza tour! It kicks off May 4 and will run twice monthly through the end of July.
- Next week Tuesday, April 30, Hiraeth is hosting a one-night-only dinner with chef Boby Pradachith.
- Starting Monday, April 29, Swenson’s Drive-In is celebrating its 90th birthday with some fun specials. Through June 16 you can try the Birthday Boy Burger, a triple-layered version of their signature Galley Boy. Then from June 17-August 11 you can taste their Birthday Cake Milkshake.
- This Saturday, April 27, the Hills Market in Worthington brings back their popular $5 pancake breakfast. It’s offered every Saturday (8 a.m. to noon) and Sunday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), May-October, on their patio.
