St. Patrick’s Day is nearly upon us, and with the variety of restaurants, bars, parades, and other events, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate.
Of course, you know my suggestion: eat an Irish breakfast!
We don’t get many Irish or full English breakfasts in Columbus, but they’re available if you know where to look. The best news of all: most of these Irish breakfasts are available all year round!
Fado Irish Pub
The Easton location of this Irish pub chain has become a beloved hangout for fans of Irish food and drink. They often open at odd hours to accommodate fans of European soccer. On Fado’s weekend brunch menu is an honest-to-goodness Irish breakfast complete with Irish bangers, rashers of bacon, black and white puddings, and Guinness cheddar bread.
Dempsey’s Food & Spirits
Dempsey’s has become a downtown Columbus institution, a convivial pub with great food and drink. They take the lead on a lot of St. Patrick’s Day events. On Saturday and Sunday (March 16-17) they’re doing a breakfast buffet from 7-11 a.m. On their regular weekend breakfast menu they feature the Irish Breakfast 2.0, a modern take that includes bread pudding, French toast, eggs, sausage, potatoes, and Irish whiskey salted caramel.
Fado Pub & Kitchen
Located in Bridge Park, the Dublin Fado is a more modern and slightly upscale take on the Irish pub chain. But just like their companion restaurant, they also feature an Irish breakfast on the weekend brunch menu, with many of the same authentic touches like rashers, bangers, black and white puddings.
Ash & Em Eatery
Ash & Em Eatery, home to smashburgers, axe throwing, and arcade games, just announced that they’ll open for kegs and eggs at 8 a.m. Saturday. And all day they’ll be serving a full Irish breakfast!
McClellen’s Pub
McCellen’s in Dublin offers creative takes on Irish and American pub fare, and on their menu is an all-day Irish breakfast, complete with eggs bangers, sausage patties, bacon, chunky potato hash browns, tomato, mushrooms, and toast.
The Blarney Stone Tavern
The Blarney Stone in Linworth opens at 9 a.m. on St. Paddy’s Day for breakfast. The festivities continue with plenty of corned beef, live music, dancers, and other specials.
