See Inside: Maple Street Biscuit Company Opens at Polaris

January 4, 2023

The first Ohio location of Maple Street Biscuit Company, a biscuit-centric chain that started in Jacksonville, Florida, is set to open on Polaris Parkway on Thursday, Jan. 5. The chain kicked off its first location in 2012, and is now up to 56 locations nationwide. In 2019 it was acquired by Cracker Barrel.

The location takes over the former MOD Pizza space. Maple Street Biscuit Co. operates on a fast casual model, with guests ordering at the counter from their menu of biscuits, sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, waffles, bacon, and other sides.

The store offers a variety of different flavored coffees; you can purchase whole beans, mugs, and other swag, too. They also serve sweet and unsweetened iced tea, cold brew, and house-made juices.

Biscuits are obviously the name of the game here, and Maple Street does its namesake justice, from the biscuits with homemade jams and butters, to biscuits and gravy (which includes a shiitake mushroom version), and giant biscuit sandwiches.

Their signature item, which has garnered them attention on the Food Network, is the Squawking Goat, a towering biscuit sandwich layering chicken tenders and a fried medallion of goat cheese, all coated in a sweet pepper jelly.

The Five & Dime, another house favorite, is an all-inclusive biscuit sandwich with chicken tenders, fried egg, cheddar, pecan wood-smoked bacon, and a generous ladling of gravy. You can order the shiitake mushroom gravy or their sausage gravy spiked with cayenne and hot sauce.

You’ll also catch a variety of waffles, sweet and savory. The savory waffles are filled with asiago and bacon…

…while the sweets are loaded with chocolates.

Most of the menu is served all day, but during the lunch hours (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) they offer a collection of fried chicken strips, kettle chips with maple syrup (yes, you read that right), sandwiches, and sauces.

They pride themselves on a variety of house-made sauces, from ranch to honey mustard, smoky honey barbecue to hot buffalo and more.

They also serve up a variety of sides. The Potatoes O’Ryan are named after a long-time employee who died in a car accident a few years ago. One day a year all the proceeds from the dish go to support his family.
