Bubbly Hall Food Hall Opens in New Albany

April 14, 2023

Yesterday Bubbly Hall, a new food hall in New Albany, celebrated its grand opening. The indoor market currently features seven local vendors, two bars, a boutique shop, and art exhibition.

The market space sits on a prominent corner amidst relatively new residential developments in New Albany. There’s a large parking lot in the back.

Seven vendors are currently open, with an eighth – The Cheesecake Girl – set to open soon. Spread throughout the market are various booths, cab tables, four-tops, and other types of seating. Even on the busy opening night, we were able to find a table to enjoy our meals.

The food hall features a number of businesses that should be familiar to local diners, like Hoyo’s Kitchen, a long-time family-run Somali shop that also has a stall at North Market.

We also spotted The Pit BBQ Grille, which has a food truck and a stall at North Market Bridge Park. Next to them is Just Chicken, a fried chicken-centric spot that also has a presence at East Market.

We also spied Fay’s Crepes, which started as a kiosk at Polaris Fashion Place before opening their own storefront at Easton.

There were a few new-to-us vendors as well, such as Mr. Hummus Grill & Pizza, which indeed serves a mix of Mediterranean dishes and pizzas.

…as well as Kiku Sushi.

We tried a couple different meals on opening night. My 11-year-old gravitated naturally toward fried chicken, so he tried Just Chicken’s sandwich, which comes with a side of fries.

And I can’t turn down safari chicken on Somali rice at Hoyo’s Kitchen.

The market also features a couple small bars serving beer, wine, and cocktails.

In addition to the regular lineup of vendors, Bubbly Hall occasionally hosts food trucks at lunch-time on Mondays. There are smaller temporary stands for market vendors selling produce, jewelry, baked goods, soaps, and other items.

There’s also the Bubbly Boutique, featuring floral designs and handmade gifts.

And throughout the space are nicely organized exhibitions from local artists, curated by Sunbear Studios. All the artwork is for sale.

Starting April 21, Bubbly Hall’s regular hours will be Mondays, 3-10 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (The bars will typically stay open at least one hour after food vendors close.)
