There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- This Saturday, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day, so of course you should celebrate with an Irish breakfast! Here’s my updated list of Where to Find an Irish Breakfast in Columbus.
- According to online auction records, Rockmill Brewery is now for sale. A pair of new owners have been operating it over the last several months while trying to purchase it from the original owner Matthew Barbee, who has moved away. In January Columbus Monthly did a full profile on the brewery and its issues over recent years.
- Haley Henderson, director of retail operations for Brioso Coffee, took home first place in the Latte Art Competition at the Coffee Fest trade show in New York City.
- Next Thursday, March 21, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream celebrates the grand opening of its new Grandview store at 1325 Grandview Ave. They’ll be giving away free scoops of ice cream from 6-9 p.m. that day.
- Bonjour Cafe confirmed that it has closed its downtown cafe at 330 S. High St. Their location in the Polaris Fashion Place food court remains open.
- Mackenzie River Pizza, Pub, & Grill has closed its location at 1515 Polaris Pkwy., near the mall. Their location at 1281 Hill Road North in Pickerington is still open.
- Ray Ray’s Hog Pit is set to debut its new truck, Ray Ray’s Reload, at The Bottle Shop in Victorian Village on Tuesday, March 19. So this week Mexpress Taqueria, the taco truck that’s been parked there for a while, moved to 734 Garden Rd. in Clintonville behind Savor Pint.
- The next edition of Souper Heroes is this Saturday, March 16 at the Worthington Farmers Market. Participants can sign up to bring a crockpot of soup, while guests donate to the Worthington Resource Pantry and get to sample soups. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the farmers market is currently indoor at The Shops at Worthington Place.
This week I’m also writing:
- Pastrami and Corned Beef at Katz’s: New York City’s Longest-Running Deli
- Black Cap Hot Sauce Celebrates Three Years; Full Ohio Distillery Trail Unveiled (Columbus Monthly)
