The Mohicans Treehouses are One of Our Favorite Getaways

November 21, 2022

The Mohicans Treehouse Resort & Event Center has been a favorite getaway of ours over the past couple years. They’ve been very generous in hosting us in their unique treehouses and cabins tucked into the woods in Glenmont, Ohio, not far from Mohican State Park.

We enjoyed a lovely stay in El Castillo treehouse as a family back in 2020, then in The Manor with a group of friends in early 2021. Just recently we savored a little overnight, just the two of us, in the Old Pines treehouse on a cozy, rainy fall evening.

The Mohicans features nine different treehouses of various shapes and sizes. Probably the most iconic is the Little Red Treehouse, which was designed and built for an episode of Treehouse Masters. You also can’t miss the Silver Bullet, built around an Airstream trailer.

Old Pine is one of their originals. It features a common area, a small kitchenette, a full bathroom, and two queen bedrooms – one on the main floor and one in the loft.

The lofted bedroom is accessible via ladder!

The kitchenette covers your basics: a small fridge, two electric burners, salt and pepper, tea and coffee makers, silverware, plates, etc. If you need any special utensils or contraptions, you should plan on bringing them yourself.

There’s a TV and a DVD player, and the cell coverage is spotty, but really the treehouse is ideal as an escape, to catch up on some reading, explore the woods, and take in the quiet.

They truly do build the treehouses in the trees. Old Pines is, true to its name, built around two pine trees.

Around back is a small patio with table and chairs…

…and there’s an outdoor shower for the really daring. (I passed on the shower this time, as it was 36 degrees out in the morning.)

View from the main floor bedroom.

And the skylight.

We brought some books and iced coffee from home.

The treehouse comes with its own firepit and picnic table.

And there’s a swing below.

Thanks again to the folks from The Mohicans for having us! We can’t wait to come back.

The Mohicans features nine treehouses, four cabins of varying sizes, two country homes, and a full wedding venue.

Read about our stay in El Castillo treehouse or our weekend at The Manor country house.

The treehouses often book up quickly, but if your schedule is flexible you can check every Friday to see about availability the next week. On Fridays they often discount any open spots the following weekend.
