The Best Donuts in Columbus

Here in our city we have a delightful collection of old school and new school shops, so here are the best donuts in Columbus, Ohio!

DK Diner

DK Diner is a Grandview favorite that’s known for crafting some of the best donuts in Columbus. It’s a fully-fledged diner, too, so you can feast on biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and scrambles, and then stop by the donut counter for giant fritters, cream-filled longjohns, and their sour cream old fashioneds.

Buckeye Donuts (Campus)

Open since 1969, Buckeye Donuts is a local institution. Generations have visited the Barouxis family for freshly made donuts at the shop that’s open 24/7, 365 days a year. So any time of day you can try their greatest hits, from the signature buckeye donut to the custard-filled goodies, the maple bacon longjohn to red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

Resch’s Bakery

With over a century in business, Resch’s must be doing something right! Started in 1912, Resch’s is now run by the sixth generation of the family. They craft all sorts of breads and cakes and cookies, but the donuts are the real highlight: soft glazed donuts or bowties, cinnamon rolls, sticks, apple fritters.

The Original Goodie Shop

The Original Goodie Shop, aka the Tremont Goodie Shop, has been an Upper Arlington staple for nearly 70 years. The hidden gem tucked into the Tremont Shopping Center features delights like frosted cake donuts, cinnamon twists, yeast-raised donuts, and longjohns.

Destination Donuts

After years as a North Market stall, Destination Donuts settled into its own Clintonville storefront in 2022. They specialize in giant, yeast-raised donuts with flavors like Dueling Vanilla or Red Raspberry Hibiscus. They’re also one of the only spots in town to get vegan donuts!

Rose Dough Donuts

While Rose Dough Donuts doesn’t have its own storefront, you can pre-order and pick up from 1400 Food Lab or catch them at a variety of local markets or events. They specialize in scratch-made brioche donuts, old fashioneds, and crullers – often with an enticing rotation of seasonal flavors.

Schneider’s Bakery

It seems like every neighborhood has its own old school donut shop, and Schneider’s has been the mainstay for Westerville since 1954. The Uptown institution produces a variety of cake and yeast-raised donuts; favorites include the nut topper and the Davy Crockett, a maple-glazed cinnamon fry.

Donna’s Delicious Dozen

The family-owned Donna’s crafts one type of soft, freshly fried cake donuts that you can top with all sorts of frostings, sprinkles, nuts, cereals, you name it. You’ll find all sorts of goodies to love, including loads of seasonal or specialty flavors.

Lil Donut Factory is a true hidden gem, tucked into a small storefront with a gas station and convenience store. They produce a wide variety of donuts; regulars know to get there early because they sell out quickly!

Auddino’s Bakery

Another long-time, family-run institution, Auddino’s has been crafting breads, pizza crusts, pastries, rolls, and more – both for themselves and for many area restaurants. They’ve scaled back some of their donut production in recent months, but their signature doughssant – a fried, glazed croissant – is still available.

Buckeye Donuts (South Side)

The two Buckeye Donuts are under separate ownership, but the South Side location is also open 24/7, serving all the old school favorites: glazed twists, longjohns, cake donuts. This location of Buckeye Donuts also added a stall in the North Market downtown in 2023.
