We’ve long been fans of the Beechwold Diner on Indianola Avenue. It serves straight-up diner fare: pancakes with sticky syrup, giant omelets, piles of home fries. It’s pretty easy to love, and the place is a favorite of the community.

So of course it’s exciting when owner George Cela opens a second location! George’s Linworth Diner has pretty much the same look and feel as Beechwold, with extra seating.

You can find the diner in the new Linworth Crossing development, near the intersection of Linworth Road and W. Dublin Granville Road. The space is filled with all the usual diner tchotchke: vintage cars, posters of celebrities, black and white photos.

On a Sunday morning, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We were seated at a four-top right inside the front door, so we felt in the way of the servers and incoming customers. On future visits, we’ll ask to sit somewhere else.

We were still handsomely rewarded with a solid diner breakfast.

The Mediterranean omelet with mushrooms, plus home fries and rye toast. Linworth Diner’s home fries are sliced thin and pretty well browned, although they usually need a little salt and pepper.

A chocolate chip pancake with a dollop of butter.

The eggs benedict with a nicely executed hollandaise. Again, needs a little salt and pepper, but I’d order it again.

Half order of biscuits and gravy. Toasted, buttery biscuits plus a decently peppery gravy. And a side of toast, because why not?

I love the addition of the Linworth Diner to the central Ohio breakfast scene. We need more well-run establishments like this to keep traditions alive, and George and his team produce some great food in a classic diner setting. It’s great if you’re going with the whole family or just want a quiet breakfast at the counter.
