Since Kenny Sipes opened the first Roosevelt Coffeehouse location in 2015, he’s added a roastery, a licensed shop inside Olentangy River Brewing Company, and now a second full location in Franklinton’s Gravity development. Columbus seems to have quickly embraced not only the great coffee and hip spaces, but Roosevelt’s mission to raise funds to provide more clean drinking water and combat human trafficking and hunger across the world.
The new Franklinton Roosevelt Coffeehouse is tall and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows, wide counters, and big tables.
There’s a garage door they can pop open on nicer days, too.
If you’re already a fan of Roosevelt and its coffee, you’ll love the new space, too. Just like their shops on Long Street and in Lewis Center, the coffee is expertly prepared.
Bonus that they serve local treats, too, like the always-delicious Destination Donuts.
In recent years, Roosevelt added its own roastery, so now they’re whipping up cappuccinos, cold brew, and pour overs with their own beans.
Roosevelt owner Kenny Sipes happened to be in the shop when we stopped by, and he showed me the back wall of the space, painted with all sorts of symbolism.
If you visit, spend some time looking it over. You’ll notice symbols related to Kenny himself, Roosevelt’s mission, their coffee, donuts, tasting notes, even to Twenty One Pilots, who are long-time friends of the shop.
The new shop is a nice addition to the neighborhood, which will certainly grow and change around it. I’m happy to see Roosevelt succeeding in its goals, and appreciate another spot for great coffee and to use as a mobile office!
