June 8, 2018

There’s a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world – here’s the latest!

  • The Columbus Arts Festival kicks off today and runs through Sunday! Check out my blog post on the Arts Fest blog about some of the local food and drink options appearing at the Festival. If you visit the Festival, look for me in a green staff shirt. I’ll be running around taking lots of photos!
  • The big news this week is that the Shake Shack is coming to Columbus! The New York City-based burger chain (we’ve had it in Chicago, see here) announced they’ll open a location at Easton in early 2019.
  • Cameron Mitchell Restaurants opens their newest concept, Harvey & Ed’s, on Tuesday, June 12. The modern deli is located at 698 N. High St. in Short North, longtime home of Rigsby’s Kitchen.
  • The Mad Mex in the Gateway University District closed this week.
  • This week The Kitchen opened their new event space, The Studio, located next door at 275 E. Livingston Ave. The space is smaller than their main venue, and features a contemporary vibe.
  • Baba’s is adding dinner hours starting June 14.
  • The Roosevelt Coffeehouse announced the space for their new coffee roasting arm, Roosevelt Coffee Roasters: 567 W. Broad St. in Franklinton.
  • A new juice bar, Clean Juice, is set to open June 23 at 665 Worthington Rd. in Westerville.
  • Tickets for Flavored Nation, a national event showcasing the iconic foods from each state, went on sale this week. The event takes place August 11-12 at the Convention Center. (I did some early blogging for them last year, exploring the flavors of Ohio. My pick for our state: ice cream.)
  • The organizers of ComFest (coming June 22-24) announced they’ll serve exclusively local beers this year, using brews from Columbus Brewing Company and Four String Brewing.
